Dr. Cheri Hansen opened Crescent City Veterinary Hospital with Dr. Ned Henry in May, 2003. An Illinois native, Dr. Hansen practiced medicine in Boston and Florida before settling permanently in New Orleans.

A member of the Southeast Louisiana Veterinary Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association, Dr. Hansen's professional interests include internal medicine, anesthesia and pain control and soft tissue surgery.

Dr. Hansen attended the University of Wisconsin, Madison and the University of Florida, Gainesville. She was awarded a Bachelor's Degree in Zoology from the University of Florida, where she graduated with high honors and was selected for the Phi Kappa Phi honor society. Dr. Hansen went on to attend the University of Florida, Gainesville, School of Veterinary Medicine, and was awarded her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1987. While in veterinary school, Dr. Hansen researched manatees and alligators.

Dr. Hansen's home is filled with pets, including Dessie, a Boston Terrier; Mack, a bird-dog mix; Fireball and Gingerale, a pair of cats, and a variety of turtles, frogs, snakes and other animals.

Dr. Hansen and her husband, Charles Dyal, and their two children, Bryn and Tom, can usually be found outside, hiking, camping, biking, canoeing, snorkeling and looking for frogs, snakes, fish and turtles.
